Artisan Traditional Deck and Fence has many years of experience designing and building decks, fences, gazebos, hot tub enclosures and other backyard structures. You can know when you choose ATDaF you'll be getting a structure built with care, experience, attention to detail and pride.
It's a nice feeling for us when the job is done with the site cleaned up and we're taking that last look at the finished structure and experiencing a sense of pride for a job well done. That is what we are about and you can expect from us on every job we do.
Wee Wee section...
We DO NOT use pre fabricated fence panels. All of our fences (and all other structures we build) are hand built on site from the ground up. You can usually save a few dollars having pre fabricated fence panels installed, but the bottom line is "you get what you pay for". Pre fabricated fence panels are simply not as strong as a properly hand built fence. Most pre fabricated fence panels do not stand up very well in the long run because of the limitations imposed on the manufacturers when constructing the frame. It's difficult to construct a proper frame for a pre fabricated fence panel that will give a section of fence the support it needs even after it has been installed between posts. You simply cannot get the structural support a section of fence needs from a pre fabricated panel to stand up to even moderate wear and tear from the kids using your fence as a back stop for the soccer ball or climbing over the fence to get the soccer ball from the neighbors yard and even from harsh weather conditions after only a few years of being installed.
Not only does a hand built fence generally look better, but it will out last a pre fabricated panel every time.
We are available for residential and commercial/strata installations. Residential installations are our main source of work, but we are always available for commercial/strata re & re projects. We approach commercial projects just as we do for residential. Our goal is to always provide quality workmanship and service with no corner cutting. We are happy to work with multiple dwelling projects and the folks that live in them to make sure they are happy with our quality of service and workmanship. We know how difficult it can be sometimes working in Strata situations but we will do our very best to keep everyone involved happy and show them they are just as important to us and anyone we work for.
We know how personal backyard projects can be to a customer. We will make every attempt to make sure you are a happy customer that will want to call us back for future projects and become a valued reference for us.
We will help you every step of the way to make sure you get what you want so we all can feel proud of your completed project.

We have a terrific experienced and approachable crew that care about every aspect of the installation process.
We welcome your detailed input before and during the installation of your project or if you need advice with design ideas we can help with that also.
We promise a great job and service!
We DO NOT use subcontractors to build our structures. We have our own in house crew that are not rushed and are given the freedom to take their time to do the job properly with care and attention to detail and quality workmanship. Most (not all of course) deck and fence installation companies in the area hire subcontractors to do their installations for them. This generally leads to rushed jobs that usually end up being a sub standard structure. The more footage of fencing the subcontractor installs the more money they make.
For decks most Companies either pay their subcontractors by the square foot, per job or per day which can also end up causing a rushed sub standard structure being built. They (the subcontractors) need to get as many jobs done as possible to make good money at it when paid by the square foot or by the job. There may be acceptations to this type of business model, but you will find that most all of the midsize to larger Companies everywhere (including the GVRD area) follow this practice of subcontracting thier jobs out to most anyone with a tool belt and a running vehicle. It's generally the smaller Companies that give you that higher quality product you expect and deserve. It's usually the bigger Companies that more often than not end up sending you a substandard subcontractor to build your structure that simply does not care enough about the finished product.
Our crew knows what quality workmanship really means and how it reflects on us as a whole team.
